Loetz. LOETZ SILVER x2 single

A STUNNING LOETZ CRETE GLATT IRIDESCENT VASE WITH APPLIED JUNGENDSTIL STYLE SILVER DÉCOR

(Click on the picture for a view of a pair of these vases that we have recently sold.)

A superb formal cabinet vase by Loetz in the subtle 'Crete Glatt' decor and overlaid with immaculate Sterling Silver floral panels in the Jungendstil style.
The silver is invariably of a high pure quality as this is easier to work on glass and the silver workmanship on this vase is near perfection.

The Loetz 'Crete Glatt' décor was a very popular and subtle surface finish but was seldom used for the rare and much sought after technique of applied silver decoration. Because the 'Crete Glatt' décor is so subtle there are very delicate and fine variations in the colours of the iridescence as exhibited on this vase.

This applied silver in formal panels with an intricate floral design is of classic Jungendstil style executed in Bohemia. Normally silver overlay on Loetz vases was applied on blanks shipped to America but this vase with the exquisitely detailed panel designs is a much rarer example produced in Europe.
